2015-16 Seasons is coming to an end

Our skating season is coming to an end soon.
  1. I will have tax receipts available starting tonight and again next week.
  2. There is NO skating on the March Break – March 7-11
  3. Group 1 – Competitive Skaters (skaters who skate Monday & Thursday) will have their last practice on WEDNESDAY, MARCH 23 from 5:45-7:15 Yes this is a Wednesday!  We exchanged with Figure skating to accommodate their competition.

Christmas Social

On Thursday December 17th  is our last night of skating before the holidays for Groups 3 & 4.

Groups 1 & 2 (competitive speed skating) will continue to skate on Monday Dec 21.

There will be a family skate from 5:15-6:45.  All skaters must wear helmets.

We will be having refreshments after the kids have had an opportunity to skate. We are asking for your help in providing some snack items for this event.

We generally break it down into groups and feel that this works the best.

Items can be dropped off to the kitchen in the Ossekeg room, just above the arena when you arrive for skating.

Just another note regarding our upcoming Speed Skating Meet on January 23rd. We will have information and sign up for food for the official and volunteers

Welcome to the 2015-16 Season

The 2015-16 Skating Season begins on Monday, Oct 5.

We are still taking registrations for all of our programs.

You can register online or register at the rink.

Things to remember:

  • We use dressing room 2 & 4 and the bleachers.
  • The first few weeks can seem chaotic as as the coaches assess the skaters abilities and the skaters adapt to the routine.
  • When you arrive at the arena please dress your skater and wait until the coach signals it is time to get on the ice.
  • We will be accepting registrations & payments at the arena.  Please get your skater on the ice first.
  • If you have already registered you should have received an email about the first night.  If you did not receive this email please send an email to hamptonssc@gmail.com

Equipment required:

  • Skates
  • Helmet – hockey, ski, bike
  • Gloves – No mittens or Fleece
  • Knee Pad – Volleyball style (Group 4)
  • Neck Guard – Bib style (Group 1, 2 & 3)
  • Safety Glasses – (Group 1, 2 & 3)
  • Clothing – We recommend loose fitting clothing.  No snow suits or ski pants

Fall Ice begins Sept 7

It’s time to sharpen up those skates!  

If you need skates please contact Kevin  to arrange a fitting.

Fall Ice begins on Monday Sept 7 6:45-8:15 and continues until Sept 28th.

The fall Ice is designed for skaters who are in Group 1 & 2 and have been skating on the competitive circuit.

Our regular ice begins on Oct 5.

How to join

  • Create an account using the skater’s name
  • Go to your email and activate the account
  • Sign into your account and join a program

If you have multiple children

  • You must use a different account  for each child
  • The username for each child must be unique
  • However you may use the same email address for multiple children

This is a new system which registers you through Speed Skate Canada, SSNB and HSSC all at the same time.

Welcome Head Coach Peter

The Hampton Speed Skating Club is pleased to announce that Peter Steele will be joining the club this season as head coach when he retires as the Provincial Technical Director.

Peter brings with him more than 17 years of experience and a love of speed skating.  He is returning to the club where it all began for him and his family.

Peter is already helping to plan the 2015-2016 season beginning with dryland before ice is available at the Hampton Arena.  Stay tuned for more details!
